Hi there,
This month's project: a cotton dishcloth
A dishcloth is the perfect first project: small, quick and useful. Cast on or chain about 35 stitches in medium-weight cotton and work rows of knit or single crochet until it's square. Every mistake will be scrubbing dishes soon, so there's no pressure.
More ideas in First projects.
Technique: the dye lot
Skeins dyed in different batches can look slightly different. Check the dye lot number on the label and buy all the skeins for one project from the same lot.
Reader question
"How do I know how much yarn to buy for a blanket?" Make a swatch, note how much yarn it used, and scale it up. The yarn calculator does the math.
Happy stitching,
